Love Breathers can have a strange effect on people.

Chapter six

Love Breathers can have a strange effect on people.
The two adults that followed little June looked stunned and amused at the same time.
"Wow, how did all these animals get into our house?" Dad asked and immediately went to check on the alarm.
"humph, in looks like somebody disarmed it"
"Daddy, these are smart pets" said June,
If Barbara and Redy Bedy let them in that means they are special" she added.
Dad and Mom looked at their visitors, and almost at once said: "where is Barbara?"
AT that moment Barbara and Z appeared at the kitchen door
"I told you our girls were looking for their partners", June said in a matter of fact sort of way.
Honey, these don't look like partners to our Barbara and Redy Bedy? Said the mom and a surprised tone. These are stray!
But she could not take her eyes off of Z and Barbara, it was obvious they were in love.
Mom, said June, if you don't let these visitors stay Barbara will leave us."
The child was ready to cry.
Top Pup walked over to Mom and looked up at her from her feet.
Oh, the little one is soooo cute, said June. He could sleep in bed with me and Redy Bedy."
And this is where it all began.
The beginning of the big adventure as observed and told by our little special friend Top-Pup.
Because it was at this junction in time, with too many pets in one house and some stunned owners standing at the door way, that something became clear to Top-Pup
Love Breathers' need for love had to have a strong connection with people.
People love their pets, people love to love, and Pets love people and love to be loved by them. And before the thought finished forming in his little head he knew that Barbara and Z were gone, as was D dog who simply ran out the front open door as soon as his instincts told him that Z and Barbara were leaving through the window in the other side of the house.
That evening as the TV was blasting the news in the living room a small segment about an animal rescue shelter came on. It described a strange disappearance of three dogs from a rescue shelter in a posh area of town. The animals disappearance was shrouded in mystery as it seemed that none of the keys in the possession of the owner were missing and yet three cages had been opened and the dogs managed to get out of the front gate as well. A puzzled owner was interviewed. He said The dogs were good dogs awaiting adoption, a picture of Top - Pup from when he was brought in immediately after being rescued was show appeared.
Dad and Mom looked at each other and June sounded a yelp of recognition.
In the living room with the family was Redy Bedy and Top Pup only.
Stick had also disappeared that afternoon. The owners barely got a glimpse of near their majestic cat when they entered their home as Stick was not the sort of cat to stick around people no pun intended.
June's face was still swollen from crying hard after it became clear that Barbara had already left.
Indeed, it was clear even to the family that Barbara was not the sort of dog that would stay for long. And Dad tried to warn June when they had gone to the rescue that Barbara must be lost to someone who might come claiming her one day.
But Barbara was such a beautiful Poodle that no dog lover could resist the temptation to own her once they laid eyes on her, especially at a Rescue shelter where she stuck out so much and seemed so out of place.
But it was the spirit of Bite-Me, not Barbara that made her beauty noticeable anywhere.
Dad and June looked at the pets sitting to the right of the TV sofa on a huge pillow which was there especially for them. "Well," said Dad "you were right June,
whatever was going on here with all these pets coming in here this afternoon looks like no coincidence. Apparently our house was only a stop in some bigger adventure their on. Maybe Barbara was part of their lives before she came to us."
"And what are we going to do about this little one?" said Mom,
"We'll have to take him back to the shelter on Monday and let them know that we have him. and that we saw the other dogs too."
Redy Bedy and Top-Pup had struck and understanding at first hello, Rey Bedy being twice his size gazed down at him with her large open features gave Top Pup a sense of security he couldn't exactly put a finger on.
But things were complicated now that his picture appeared on TV it looked like it wasn't going to be any kind of quiet adoption option for him anyway.
As much as he liked this home and the very special little June, he had a feeling that his adventures were only just beginning.
And indeed at that moment he received a txt Redy Bedy sensed the electric current in his body ans watched him read it.
It was from Z,

closer to a gated community

Chapter Four

Was Z a Love Breather?
Probably not, but he was the sort of dog with a sixth sense, which meant he could understand things that were normally not in his realm. At this point Top Pup was becoming aware of judging every being he encountered according to their degree of "Love." Was D dog a Love Breather, definitely not, but even he, although more remotely, could posses,a level of understanding to for what it meant.
Top Pup's musing were interrupted by a terrible tummy growl. It was very loud he still was not sure if it was his own tummy, or Z's which was close enough considering he was riding his back. It had been a long grueling day and no food had come to their mouths. Just then Top Pup caught a whiff of fresh blood.
Stick appeared with something dangling between his teeth, it was a wild rat, and it was still moving. ...................
Top Pup was amazed by the cheer survival instinct of the other members of the group, be they cats or dogs, they knew how to be lean and mean in order to survive.
It seemed he had almost no such instincts to save his life. Again, he found himself totally dependent on some one else's skills to survive.
It occurred to him that he was not even a dog in the true sense of the word.
He was a different kind of dog, the sort born out of what they called breeding
But then again, that only meant he was special, unpredictable, a work in progress.
No one, including himself, knew what he was capable off, and he was indeed constantly surprised by his own self discovery. One thing he discovered at that very moment was that there was no way he was going to eat a freshly undead wild rat, no sire Bob that was not going to work out for him, at all.
Stick put his fresh catch down at the feet of the big dogs - an offering, they, in turn, exchanged a look between themselves and then with the strange looking battered cat whose head seemed disproportionately bigger than the rest of his body. They took the offering and the three of them divided the rat between them. then Z brought a small piece of flesh to Top Pup, but one look at his expression made it clear that he was not joining the party.
The three eaters turned each in his own direction to wolf down the reviving snack which disappeared within seconds.
Top Pup sat in his own spot and watched.
The cat immediately got busy cleaning himself up once he was done while the dogs settled for a big tongue lick..
The dogs stood for a moment taking in the landscape and digesting at the same time while Stick was still seemingly unaware, still busy cleaning up (which did not have much affect on his disheveled look of his fur) then off they were, in motion, Z stretching down to allow Top Pup to mount him. "We'll find you something civilized to eat soon enough," he said.
Top Pup could not think of  a good rely, so he said nothing, besides, he thought he would faint he was very weak from lack of food and drink. No, he was definitely not good at surviving. He hoped he would be around to see what happens tomorrow. Given the small weak species that he was, who's to say how long he could live without food?. "Your gonna be just fine" he heard Z say.
He felt absolutely stupid being so tragically worried about not having eaten for one day. So again, he opted to say nothing and just save his energy to hang on to Z's back.

Inside the castle in the sky.

Chapter Five

On the morn of the next day their destination was clear in sight.
It was a gated community of posh houses on the other side of the High Way sitting majestically on top of the hill ahead of them. For Top Pup, through a haze of hunger and fatigue it appeared like a castle in the sky.
As they came closer they could see that the place was well secured, besides the fact that it was fenced there was also a guard booth and security cameras.
Was there a plan? He wondered.
The only one remaining unfazed was Stick, it occurred to Top Pup that he was the one who could most easily pass all the security, unnoticed or even noticed, no one would worry about some ragged stray lokin' cat wondering about. But first they had to cross the high way and that was no easy feat.Images from the his night on the High Way K rail popped into his forehead screen.
Top Pup closed his weary eyes, determined to get rid of those fearful memories and cross safely .
He allowed for the sound of the cars zooming by became to become one with the waves behind and he waited. In his weak state of being it wasn't hard to reach that place where he felt engulfed by the blue light and hovering. Finally there was a moment when all became quiet.
When he opened his eyes the High Way, as far as they could see, on both direction, was empty. The four of them crossed.

Once on the other side they stayed low under some bushes growing out side the gate for a while. And then it was Stick who moved forward.
They watched as he walked up to the fence and expertly wiggled his way under, it didn't take a second and he disappeared from sight.
Some moments passed and then Z got a Txt message. He glanced at his paw and the three of the proceeded to climb around the gates to a designated point where Stick was waiting for them. Top Pup was on his own feet now as they all crawled under the fence where it was already broken in by wild animals of the area.
Top Pup trusted that Z knew where they were headed as they moved through  a  posh and extremely quiet neighborhood.
The houses were huge and the gardens surrounding them were well kept with little flower decorated walk ways. All the houses were very much alike and brand new. Finally they reached a house on a Cul-de-sac. This house was a little darker in color and had a more wild assortment of flowers growing in its front. Fragrant Lavender and sage grew around boulders and in between rocks, this house was pretty.
There were no cars in the drive way, in fact, the whole neighborhood seemed deserted, it was so quite it could have been a ghost town.
Once again it was the tension in Z's body that alerted Top Pup to the situation. His head erect and nostrils wide Z was looking at something in the window of the house. Top Pup stretched his neck to see between lavender bushes and saw her.
There she was standing erect In the living room large window, Bite Me. She was looking at Z.
And then, everything went fast forward. Z ran to the front door, but D dog barked in warning, reminding him that the house was probably wired with alarm. Z stopped in his track unable to even sniff under the door for fear of triggering the alarm. Bite Me disappeared from the large window, probably standing behind the door herself. That's when Top Pup noticed something which took only a split second to register in his mind.
Boy did he ever misjudge Stick, The door opened and Stick was standing in the door way.
The cat managed to get into the house and disarm the alarm. At that moment Bite Me appeared at the door way her eyes locking in with Z's. Z walked in and they disappeared into one of the rooms upstairs.
There was an awkward second while D dog and Top Pup remained outside by themselves. And then the two of them stepped ahead and entered the place - the castle in the sky.
At first hesitant at the door step Top Pup and D dog peered in. It took only one sniff for them to know the owners were not in.
The place was heaven on earth, soft hairy rugs and cushions were spread everywhere and in the kitchen, there were at least 6 bowls of food containing different delicacies for dogs and cats- just waiting - filled to the brim.
Top Pup and D dog approached in disbelief, eying the food expertly they were soon loud at work chowing down the fresh fare.
As he was chowing down the food Top-Pup noticed from the corner of his eye something slick and fancy slid into the kitchen.
Top Pup snapped to attention and saw the most elegant looking cat he had ever laid eyes on. D dog was also in alert as the both stopped to regard the majestic creature. It was a she cat and her fur seemed, low and behold, pink!
This cat walked as if she owned the place, not only this place, but any place she might lay a paw on.
D dog and Top-Pup could not help, but stand with their mouth agape.

To be a love breather.

After Top Pup agreed to help Z he knew he had to prepare himself for something big,
very big.
Although he ended up in a shelter, his life up to this point have always been protected.
Being a small sweet looking dog, meant he was always looked after by people, even when he got lost and found himself on the K rail of a highway having jupmped out of his loving owner's back car seat, he was immediately taken to a safe place by the kind people who spotted him there, and the shelter he was brought to, was a good clean place with loving care takers. So far Top Pup  never had to endure any kind of real hardship, which was not the case with the big dogs he met in the shelter and had so admired.
When you a small dog with a home and a good owner, you accept life as it comes and live it simply and happily,
but once thrown into a shelter, a dogs eyes really open to other kinds of living in a big and often unfriendly world.
Top Pup soon realized that small dogs are a breed completely dependent on people and he felt the pangs of being looked down upon by the big breeds whose life was capable of changing for the worse at any given moment.
Shortly after arriving at the shelter and having his eyes open to life in the big world, Top Pup discovered he had an amazing talent, he never knew he had, when in the realm of his safe life. He probably would never have discovered it if he hadn't jumped out the window of the car that fateful night.
He thought he had acted on a whim, on a stupid impulse, but now he was starting to understand that maybe, just maybe, he was made for greater things than spending his life on some person's lap.
The thing that Top Pup discovered was . . . well, . . .  his third eye.
Yes, it sounds strange, but one day, as Top Pup was trying to get aclimated to his new environment, after having an unpleasant encounter with one nasty dog who made it his past time to harass smaller dogs, Top Pup found himself pressed to a corner and about to be barked at and maybe even bitten. He closed his eyes tight and suddenly, up in a spot on his forehead, right between his eyes, he saw a dot of blue light which was getting bigger and bigger and spreading all across his inner fore head.
Top Pup was so engulfed by this light, that he was completely transported away from his present predicament and no longer even heard the frightning guuurrr coming from between the  bully clenched teeth.
When he finally opened his eyes he felt as if he was floating in the air, rather than walking on four.
The bully dog had vanished without a trace (and never came near Top Pup after that) and a feeling of calm of a like he never experienced had spread throughout his limbs.
Top Pup did not understand that meaning of this incident, nor did he guess that the power within him was something he could summon on command if and whenever he wanted.
Not long after wards, a nice couple walked into the shelter looking to adopt. They stopped by Top Pups cage and tried to make contact with him for a long time. Top Pup looked at them from the far corner of his space and tried to imagine what life with these people might looked like, before approaching their streched hands to bond and beg for a new life. He could tell they were kind and meant well, and he easily imagined their nice house and the comfortable life he was likely to have with them. He closed his eyes and found he was sucked into the blue whirl of the light once again. There he hovered for a while, feeling his body and mind become light and powerful. When he opened his eyes the couple was gone. He realized that blue light had taken over him and so his decision was made. "Was it his decision?" Top Pup thought in amazement, he waited to feel pangs of regret, to find himself running to the door of his cage craning his neck to see where they went and barking to call their attention back to him. But suprisingly, his legs wouldn't budge from underneath his little tummy, he remained glued to his spot and that's when he understood that he no longer wished to be adopted. That kind of life was no longer what he wished for, he had moved passed it, and his jumping out the window that day was no mere "whim" as he had dubbed it until now.
There was no way back.

The Love Breaters - the adventure begins.

Chapter Three,
With a picture of D Dog
And a picture of Stick

Chapter two
When Top -Pup opened his eyes that morning he found himself surrounded by 4 big paws.

He looked up to find Z standing right on Top of him.
Z was quite an increadible hound dog, he could sneak up on you like that, quiet as a ghost.

"Good Morning" he said, "R u ready to embark on an adventure today?"
Top Pup had no time to shake off sleep, he did not  wish to seem sluggish (well, there was no denying he was caught fast asleep), being around Z had a way of making him snap to  tippy toes in an instant.
"Today?" he asked?
"Today"  Z replied.
Top Pup got a feeling that Z was a well aware of his affect on other dogs, and rather enjoyed it.
"No Goodbyes, no thinking about it - just up and go, are you ready for that?"
Top Pup's heart began pounding.
He looked around at his small abode his gaze drifted further outside the window, the shelter structure. He took in with new eyes, the eye of departing. It was barely dawn and all the other pets were still deep in a slumber. He was going to sneak our of here, with Z, before they got up, and he would never see this place again.
Wow, why had he agreed to this? he asked himself.
Who is this Z dog, did he even know?
He looked up at Z who was gazing down at him intently and again had that eerie feeling that Z watching his thoughts as if his forehead was a screen.
"Having second thoughts are you?" Z said with a twinkle in his gray eyes.
But Top Pup could read Z's mind just as well, he knew that today, in a few minutes, to be exact, Z would embark on his journey, with or without him and there was no way he was going to stay behind wondering what would have happened had he joined him..
"Who else is coming?" Top Pup heard himself ask.
"Only my friend D" Z replied.
D was a british hunting dog, who looked small next to Z, but was actually not a small dog himself, and like Z, exuded inner power.
How was he going to fit in with these two big animals? Top Pup thought, quite a sight the three of them would make, the  thought made him smile inside.
"You'll be riding my back" Z said, reading his thoughts yet again.
He wasn't really leaving Top Pup much room for regret, it was obvious he was expecting him to step up to the plate, Top Pup thought
"I'm in" he replied.
"I knew you would be," Z said,
He lowered down stretching his front paws forward so that Top Pup cold climb on top of him.
D was waiting for them at the shelter gate which was easily opened as Z nudged the handle with his nose.
How come it wasn't locked? Top Pup wondered.
The sun was just rising as they left the compound.

It was going to be a long journey, the road they would have to walk was on a mountainous terrain over looking the ocean. Top Pup had no idea what the area surrounding the compound looked like. He remembered very little from the night he was brought here, accept being scared and helpless sitting in an unfamiliar car with unfamiliar people after barely escaping being hit by the huge car lights that seemed to coming at him from every which way. It seemed like eons ago, but his senses told him it wasn't that long ago at all.
By now the Sun was fully up and it was starting to get warm. Riding on Z's back was a sticky affair as Z's fur was long and warm and keeping a steady grip was no easy feat. Top Pup was also concerned with making himself less of a burden on Z's light walk. His thoughts drifted and he was thinking of how strange it all has been. The time before he arrived at the shelter seemed before he was born because at that time, before his jump, he did not know he understood people language and he did not know that he was not completely dependent on people.
Suddenly Z stopped in his tracks. He and D dog were both staring in the same direction with enlarged nostrils and fur sticking up like needles and then it hit Top Pups nostrils too, an animal scent he had never sniffed before, it was something big, something wild, something dangerous. and before he had a chance to take it in it was upon them. The wind had played against them, by the time they became aware of the mountain cat they had practically walked into his lair. Within what seemed like a split second he felt a complete transformation in Z his body hardened and his bones seemed to be sticking out from underneath his fur.. Before Top Pup could apprehend what was going on he was tossed into thorny bushes where luckily he landed safely with only a few scratches and watched wide eyed the battle that was about to take place. The cat was huge, its ears smoothed back in  menacing preparedness, his sharp teeth exposed and he was making a hiss that madeTop Pup's  hair stand up. The dogs stood their ground growling and exposing their teeth in turn. For a while the 3 animals surveyed each other through slotted eye lids and flared nostrils and then, suddenly, the cat turned around and with his tail between his legs vanished into thin air.

Yet the two dogs remained standing on guard  for what seemed like forever to Top Pup. For a moment he was worried that they had transformed into fierce fighting machine and will remain that way for ever when just as suddenly, Z turned in his directions looking  his old self again and said "little one, are you ok?" Top Pup immerged from the thorny bush. The three dogs surveyed each other, until Z stretched his front paws forward so that Top Pup could climb back on tom of him again.
They kept their course as if nothing ever happened. Z and D dog spoke very little Top Pup noted, they needed no language to communicate, it was all dog instinct - all was clear as crystal and nothing whatsoever was amiss in this silence, indeed, Top Pup realized, he too understood this language.
The road kept on winding above the ocean when Top Pup became aware of another animals scent faintly wafting their way. The dogs stopped in their tracks again, but Top Pup knew this animal was not going to post a threat to them, a moment later a strange looking battered cat appeared right in front of them, as if saying, "I'm here, hands up, open and vulnerable, I come in peace" The dogs surveyed the cat, It was a regular house cat, or at least used to be, or maybe it had never been a house cat, because this fellow seemed experienced in the way of living out doors. He introduced himself as "Stick" and asked to join the party. "I can be of help, he said, I know the ins and outs of where you are headed toward." Z and D dog exchanged a looks and sniffed in agreement. Stick allowed them to pass him and joined the party walking somewhat behind them. He looked up at Top Pup who was surveying him form his vantage point up on Z, trying to figure out what a cat was doing in such a wild area and why was he interested in helping. Z and D dog seemed to have the answers to these questions, they had no qualms about this new addition, it was as if they were expecting a fourth party to meet up with them.
